Continued discussion of a lawsuit filed by the Tri County school district, the county's contract with Gage County Economic Development and a jail steering committee will be the focus of the Gage County Board of Supervisors' next meeting at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the courthouse.

Items scheduled to be discussed at the meeting include recent action taken in a lawsuit between the Tri County school district and Gage County Assessor Patti Milligan and Gage County Treasurer Laurie Wollenberg.

In a Sept. 6 hearing, District Court Judge Daniel Bryan determined areas of sections 16 and 21 in Midland Township have been incorrectly listed as being in the Beatrice school district instead of the Tri County school district.

As a result, Tri County is requesting back taxes on the areas in question dating back to 1971 when the land was annexed to the city of Beatrice. Bryan has not yet ruled on that aspect of the request.

The board is also scheduled to continue a discussion regarding the county's contract with GCED.

At the board's Aug. 29 meeting, a lengthy discussion was conducted regarding concerns some of the supervisors had regarding how GCED released information about its business practices. Concern was also raised regarding the assessed value of the Beatrice business campus building used by GCED.

Another action scheduled for Tuesday's meeting is the approval or disapproval of a list of people who would serve on a steering committee to consider a new county jail facility. Previously, Gage County Sheriff Millard &#8220Gus” Gustafson has said the committee would likely meet monthly to discuss feasibility issues regarding the jail and to educate the public as to why the jail is needed.

In other business:

County sales on delinquent properties: The supervisors are scheduled to meet with Wollenberg to consider authorizing the sales of real estate parcels where taxes are delinquent and remain unsold.

Snow removal bids: The supervisors are scheduled to consider calling for bids on snow removal around the courthouse, sheriff's office and parking lots near the courthouse.

Child support enforcement contract: The board is scheduled to consider a child support enforcement contract between the county and attorney Steven Kraviec. This item was tabled at the Sept. 12 meeting because Gage County Attorney Randall Ritnour had not seen the contract.

General fund transfer: The transfer of $400,000 from the general fund to the road fund for the operation of the Gage County Highway Department is scheduled to be considered.

Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging: The supervisors will consider appointing Marlene Gakle to serve on the Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging governing board as a Gage County representative. Gakle would serve in place of Moya Peters, whose term has expired.
