Store Kraft has begun the process of calling back 61 employees laid off in September, bringing its workforce back to 160.
Katie Humble, director of human resources, said they began calling back employees on Thursday. All 61 employees are expected to be back to work within six weeks, Humble said.
Seasonal layoffs are not uncommon for the company, but this year’s layoffs were more extensive than in the past due to the economy.
The company was waiting for an order from Kohl’s before beginning the call back, Humble said.
“We have certainly missed everybody,” Humble said. “It’s been pretty quiet around here. We’re glad to have our friends coming back.”
In September, 5Stat, a subsidiary of Store Kraft, received a Community Development Block Grant from the city of Beatrice for $600,000 for research and development of its technologically advanced fixtures.
There are currently 13 employees in the 5Stat division, but company officials are planning to add new employees as sales of the new technology increase.
Store Kraft was founded in 1920 and produces high quality retail store fixtures and security products.
