Camilla E. Budke

Camilla E. Budke, 80, Manhattan, Kan., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, in the Stoneybrook Retirement Community, Manhattan.

She was born Nov. 9, 1928, on a farm near Diller, Neb., to Rudolph and Abbie (Zarybnicky) Hubka. She graduated from Diller High School as valedictorian in 1946 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duchesne College in Omaha in 1950, graduating cum laude. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Omaha in 1947.

She taught high school English and history in Blue Springs, Neb., in 1950-1951. She also directed and produced three three-act plays, coached forensics and one-act play competitions, and sponsored the pep club. 

She married Larry Budke of Beloit on Sept. 13, 1952, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Beatrice, Neb. 

Survivors include sister-in-law, Betty Hubka of Diller.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6. Visitation is Monday, Oct. 5,  at the St. Thomas More Catholic Church with a visitation for family and friends at 6 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m. and a vigil at 7:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established for the St. Thomas More Catholic Church Trust Fund and Homecare and Hospice and can be left in care of the Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home, 1317 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, KS  66502. Online condolences can be sent to www.irvinparkview.com.

I just learned this evening about Camilla's passing and was saddened by the news.
Our deepest sympathy to each and every one of you! Camilla was a beautiful person inside and out and I am so glad that we had the chance to communicate during the last few years. She was so proud of her family.
