Tena W. Parde, 95, of Beatrice died on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at Parkview Center in Beatrice.
She was born Aug. 5, 1914, on the family farm near Filley, to William W. Johnson and Ricka Johnson. She was baptized Aug. 16, 1914, and confirmed April 13, 1930, at Zion Lutheran Church by Pastor J.B. Reents. She was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell and attended Wallman Country School.
On Feb. 20, 1938, she married John E. Parde at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor J.B. Reents officiating. They lived and farmed at Crab Orchard for six years and rural Adams for 27 years, and then retired and moved to Beatrice in the spring of 1980. She enjoyed quilting , playing cards, visiting with people, babysitting and spending time with her family. Tena’s Christian faith and church life were very important to her.
Survivors include one son, Harold Parde and wife Meredith of Hickman; daughter-in-law, Verna Parde of Arlington; five grandchildren, Sheryl Schaaf and husband Bryan of Lincoln, Sue Dawson and husband Reid of Lincoln, Rita Ortmeier and husband Roger of Elkhorn, Randy Daubendiek and wife Danelle of Elkhorn, Renee Wulf of Blair; nine great-grandchildren, Rhett and Ric Dawson, Mason, Brody and Millie Ortmeier, Valerie, Stephanie and Courtney Wulf and Jocelyn Daubendiek; three sisters, Meta Otto of Pickrell, Louise Parde and Clara Buss, both of Adams; three sisters-in-law, LaVerna Fitzgerald of Parker, Colo., Leona Parde of Hickman, Arlene Parde of Adams; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, William W. and Ricka (Menninga) Johnson; her husband. John E. Parde, who died on Oct. 23, 1982; her son, Daniel W. Parde, who died on July 5, 1995; five sisters, Marie Waltke, Ricka Buss, Lena Waltke, Elsie Janssen, Emma Atkins; one brother, Bill Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 17, at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell, with Pastor Brad Brauer officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery of rural Pickrell. A family service will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Monday in the fellowship room of the church. A memorial has been established to Zion Lutheran Church or Mosaic with Alan Wiese and Leonard Buhr in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from noon Saturday until 9 p.m. Sunday and at the church one hour preceding the services on Monday.
