Congratulations to the Beatrice High School football team.

Can't help but wonder, though, why all the hoopla for football. Our basketball team won state last year and was runner up the year before and I don't remember that there was so much ado about it. For instance I don't recall a pep rally prior to the team leaving town nor do I remember asking people to line the streets to cheer on the team.

Guess football is more important than basketball?

Citizen-this is beatrice's first time to the finals in football, the reason no one remembers why there wasnt a rallie before beatrice's first bball championship is because it was in 1911. This is reason to celebrate, first time in school history!

I am glad to see the Football team get the recognition they deserve. It is too bad that the Basketball people in town can't be happy too. The basketball program can't handle it when another sport does well. The Daily Sun and the school do a fine job of congratulating both sports.

To Football08 and Beatrice Supporter: Sorry I hit a raw nerve. I don't think I said I was unhappy that the football team made state playoffs. I was merely asking why such a hoopla for football and not for basketball (or for that matter, track). I am truly sorry that the Orangemen lost Saturday night - I was looking forward to a win since I have two relatives on the team! Sorry the two of you took my first comment the wrong way. Why so up tight?

we did meet the bus late at night for bhs's first bball championship under coach weeks. Citizen, I'm sure you got such a response because your comment read like sour grapes, whether that was your intention or not.

ps boy these comments sure have declined since one can't be overtly annonymous anymore..

To MiMi: My comment sounded like sour grapes??? I congratulated the football team, and merely asked a question? Guess if that reads like sour grapes, so be it.

By the way when was the basketbal team greeted? I guess I missed out on that. I'm glad it happened, but when? Grandson played in the late 90s and another grandson plays now. Glad to know there was support.

One more comment to MiMi: I personally think every comment should be posted but that we should have to give our legal names when commenting.

what sounded sour was the use of the term hoopla (defined:sensational publicity) infering that bbad did not get it. the next term "ado" hints that less was done for bball then football. Need I go on?

Sorry you missed out on greeting the bus. they pulled up on the east side of 4th street on a pretty chilly night. Ask Weeks, I'll bet he remembers it.
