Kyle Silverstein, the 6-year-old grandson of Fairbury residents Robert and Judith Kluge, will make his television acting debut Tuesday with a role on “House.”

“House”, starring British actor and two-time Golden Globe winner Hugh Laurie, follows the story of Dr. Gregory House (Laurie), an unorthodox physician.

“Emancipation” is the name of the “House” episode that Silverstein will play a role in. It airs Tuesday, at 7 p.m. Central Standard Time.

Silverstein is the son of Kendra and Eric Silverstein of Van Nuys, Calif. Kendra is a 1985 graduate of Fairbury High School.

Kyle has been a member of the Screen Actors’ Guild for two years. He has had roles in the film “Family Karma” as Nathaniel, and supporting roles in “BTK,” “From the Shadows” and “A Dead Calling.” He was recently filmed in an episode of “Life on Mars.”

Judith Kluge said she’s proud of the work her grandson does, but it doesn’t put him above any of the others.

“He’s one of five of the greatest grandchildren in the world,” she said.

Kluge said it’s fun to see when he gets a phone call from his agent, informing him of a possible audition.

“We’ve been out there when his agent has called. My daughter turns and says, oh, ‘There’s this audition tomorrow,’ and asks him if he wants to do it,” Kluge said.

Kyle will mull it around in his head, asking what he has to do, like memorize lines. He stops short.

“He said, ‘Oh no,  I can’t do it, we’re doing dinosaurs at school tomorrow,’” Kluge said.

She said school and his friends are more important to Kyle than acting.

One audition was turned down because Kyle’s friend had a birthday that day, and Kyle knew there would be cupcakes at school.

“He didn’t want to do the audition and have to miss out on the cupcakes,” Kluge said.

Kluge said she’s proud of how her daughter has treated Kyle’s acting career.

Kendra tells Kluge that some days she “could just gag” when she sees how some mothers treat their children at auditions.

Kendra doesn’t push or prod Kyle into any audition.

“It’s only if Kyle feels like wanting to do something,” she said.

Kyle’s younger sister, Lilly, 4, also acts.

Kluge and her husband Robert plan to watch “House” Tuesday.

“And if I can get one of my teenage neighbors to come over and show me how to use my DVD player, I might record it, too,” she said.
