Anna R. Krivan, 79 years of age, of Beatrice, died at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln on Saturday, October 11, 2008. She was born on December 11, 1928, at Rockford, Nebraska, and attended school at Crab Orchard.
She worked at the A & T Drugstore in Beatrice before marrying Leo Krivan on November 28, 1948, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in DeWitt. They lived in DeWitt, where she worked at the DeWitt Cafe, Ernie’s Place, and then at Petersen Manufacturing from 1976 until 1991. She was a former member of the Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell, where she was baptized, and a former member of the American Lutheran Church of Filley, where she was confirmed. She was currently a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of DeWitt and also a member of the Peace Circle. She was a member of the DeWitt American Legion Auxiliary for over 50 years. She enjoyed her grandchildren, quilting, sewing and cooking, and also had been an in-home babysitter and Cub Scout Den Mother.
Survivors include her husband, Leo Krivan of Beatrice; two sons, Gary Krivan and wife Gail of Largo, Florida, and Roger Krivan and wife Debbie of DeWitt; two daughters, Deb Johnson and husband Jim of DeWitt and Donna Evers and husband Duane of Beatrice; daughter-in-law, Margaret Krivan of DeWitt; nine grandchildren, Tracy Krivan and wife Nicole, Tyler Krivan and wife Amy, Trent Krivan and wife Shannon, Brock Johnson and wife Katie, Brandon Johnson and wife Sadye, Brittany Johnson and special friend Anthony Taylor, Jon Rabus and wife Angela, Tiffany Bryl, and Kerry Baker and husband Brian; nine great-grandchildren, Nathan and Kody Krivan, Maddux Johnson, Noah and Ethan Rabus, Drake Bryl, Deitrick, Zander and Lexand Baker; five brothers, Raymond Wattjes and wife Gladys of Wilber, Robert Wattjes and special friend Sally Mueller of Lincoln, Delmar Wattjes and special friend Ann Walters of Raymond, Harold Wattjes and wife Connie of Las Vegas, Larry Wattjes and wife Lois of DeWitt; two sisters, Henrietta Bjerrum of Lincoln and Velda Walter and husband Roger of Beatrice; one brother-in-law, Harvey Hippen of Virginia; and three sisters-in-law, Hilda Kasl and husband Richard of Wilber, Jean Placek and husband Roland of DeWitt and Betty Wendelin of Swanton; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Johnn and Fanny Zimmerman Wattjes; son, Lester Krivan; two brothers, Vernon and Donald Wattjes; and one sister, Irene Hippen.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 209 N. Quince, DeWitt, with Pastor Ken Kramer officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, Lincoln. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice with Leonard and Shirley Saathoff in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home, 1116 N. 19th, Beatrice, from 10 a.m. Monday and until 9 p.m. Tuesday, and then at the church one hour preceding the service on Wednesday.
