A Tecumseh man was sentenced to serve 7-15 years in prison Monday for manufacturing child pornography.
Rodney Colson II, 36, of Tecumseh, was convicted of a Class III Felony for knowingly making or creating 50 photographs of a 13-year-old child which were sexually explicit in nature.
Colson will be eligible to have parole hearings in 3 1/2 years, then depending upon his behavior in prison, he would automatically be released in 7 1/2 to 15 years. Colson also signed a document acknowledging that he will be obligated to register as a sex offender.
According to Johnson County Attorney Julie Smith Hogancamp, the investigation began in March 2008 when the Tecumseh Police Department received a report that Colson had enticed a 13-year-old child into manufacturing child pornography within Johnson County.
On March 31, the Tecumseh Police Department served a search warrant at Colson’s home, during which several items were seized. Colson was arrested on April 7 and then rearrested on April 15, following continued investigation by both the Tecumseh Police Department and the Nebraska State Patrol. The investigation revealed that Colson had threatened to harm the child or the child's family and that Colson personally photographed the child.
