COLUMBUS — Beatrice’s Orangemen are ranked second in Class B in the first Nebraska Associated Press high school football rankings for the 2008 season.
The Orangemen, 2-0, are ranked behind McCook, also 2-0.
Beatirce started the season with a 42-24 win over ninth-ranked Ralston and followed that up with a 57-14 win over Seward last week.
Three other Sunland area teams are also among those ranked by The Associated Press.
In Class C1, Fairbury is ranked sixth after a 1-0 start to the season. The Jeffs opened with a 35-0 win over Geneva-Fillmore Central.
Adams Freeman, in Class D1, is ranked seventh after opening its season with a 52-8 win over Grand Island-Heartland Lutheran.
In Class D2, Sterling is ranked 10th, also at 1-0. The Jets opened their season last week with a 40-16 win over Johnson-Brock.
