Daily Sun staff
Harold Campbell, Beatrice Daily Sun editor, has announced his resignation to accept a reporting position at the Chanute (Kan.) Tribune.
His last day with the Daily Sun will be Friday, July 18, while he will assume his new duties on July 28. He said the primary reason for his job change is to be closer to his children, Tim and Esther, who are attending school in southeast Kansas.
“I’ll miss the many friends I’ve made here in Beatrice, but an opportunity arose that allowed me to be closer to family, so I had to jump on it,” he said.
Campbell has more than 20 years of reporting and editing experience at newspapers in Nebraska, Kansas, Texas and South Dakota. He previously worked at the Daily Sun in 1993-1994 as city reporter and returned to the Daily Sun in December 2005 as county and courts reporter.
In April 2007, he replaced longtime Daily Sun editor Diane Vicars, who resigned to become marketing director at Beatrice Community Hospital and Health Center.
