LINCOLN - Beatrice’s Eagles/Store Kraft Juniors finished out their regular season over the weekend with a 2-2 performance in the Lincoln Coaches Tournament.

“I was happy with the way our pitchers threw this weekend,” Beatrice coach Jason Cullison said.

Cullison said the team’s pitcher threw well enough to win each game they were in, but their defense let them down.

“Our defense wasn’t where it needs to be,” Cullison said. “We need to sharpen up a few things before area tournament.”

Offensively, Cullison said the Beatrice Juniors were “stagnant” in the two games they lost.

The Beatrice Juniors fell to Lincoln Carpetland, 3-2, in the first round of the tournament.

Eric Haake took the loss for Beatrice, allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits and two walks in seven innings. He struck out seven.

Trailing Carpetland,2-1 after the first inning, Beatrice tied the game at 2-all in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Carpetland, however, was able to score the game-winning run in the top of the sixth inning.

Haake led the Beatrice offense with two singles, while A.J. Jarvis, Sam Busboom, Patrick Doyle and Tyler Baxa had a single each.

In their second game, the Beatrice Juniors downed Lincoln T.O. Haas, 11-0.

Jarvis earned the win, shutting out the Lincoln High team. He allowed two hits and struck out six.

David Gay led the Beatrice offense with a double and single, while Patrick Bell and John Oltman had two singles apiece. Jarvis, Busboom and Haake added a basehit each.

Beatrice fell to Manhattan, Kan., in its third game, 10-2.

Busboom took the loss, allowing five earned runs on four hits, six walks and two hit batters in four innings. He struck out three.

Throwing in relief of Busboom, Tandon Dorn allowing five unearned runs on two hits and two walks. He struck out one.

Beatrice had five hits in the game.

Drayton Riekenberg had two singles, while Jarvis, Haake and Bell added a single each.

In their final contest, the Beatrice Juniors downed Norfolk, 15-4, in five innings.

Jordan Wallman earned the win for the local Juniors, giving up four runs, two earned, on five hits. He struck out seven.

Busboom led the offense with a double and two singles, while Doyle had two singles.

Adding a basehit each were Jarvis, Wallman, Haake, Bell and Riekenberg.

Great to see the Cullison family keeping the ball rolling for the Beatrice Juniors. Good luck at districts.
