Details of search warrant on Kelley residence released

The investigation into the disappearance of 36-year-old Ann Marie Kelley of rural Filley is continuing.

However, there is now the added complication that charges have been filed against her husband, William Kelley Jr., for unrelated offenses and an arrest warrant has been put out against Kelley herself in connection with some of her husband’s drug-related charges.

Kelley’s husband has had more than a dozen charges filed against him recently in Gage County Court, ranging from drug-related offenses to child sexual assault.

The contents of an affidavit for a search warrant performed on Kelley’s residence three miles east and two miles north of Filley late last week was made available to the public Tuesday.

The affidavit showed Gage County Sheriff’s Office deputies obtained such items as pornographic tapes, DVDs, CDs, books and magazines from Kelley’s home, as well as sexual stimulation devices, sexually explicit clothing, sex board games and bondage materials.

Gage County Attorney Randall Ritnour said while Kelley has had a number of criminal charges filed against him, the case of his missing wife has not reached the criminal stage.

“He is a person of interest in her wife’s disappearance,” Ritnour said. “But that remains a missing persons case until we actually find a body or her vehicle. Just being missing isn’t a crime.”

Meanwhile, the sheriff’s office late last week also issued an arrest warrant against Ann Marie Kelley on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of more than one pound of marijuana. The charges were related to information sheriff’s deputies received while investigating drug charges against her husband.

Ann Marie Kelley was reported missing on April 15. She was reportedly last seen about 8:20 a.m. that day at the SunMart supermarket in Beatrice driving her 1991 dark gray wood-paneled Plymouth Voyager minivan.

Authorities continue to ask anyone with information to call the sheriff’s office at 402-223-5221 or Beatrice Crime Stoppers at 402-228-4343.

And how do they know Ann Marie is in possession of the items? She is missing.

How many other people in Gage County have pornographic material and sex games in their home. Are our homes not private anymore? I guess we should never contact the police department if we have these things.

That's exactly what I thought.... seriously, sexual abuse or not, those are private consenting adult items... I sure don't want anyone going through my house!!!! Imagine the embarrassment of those kids, reading this years later regardless of the outcome...

I think it's interesting that they won't disclose what the note said to her kids, or the 'exact' timeline of the day.... however they feel it necessary to release these intimate things that most everyone has in their private bedrooms....

Sorry, but unless it was child pornography, or it was found laying out where the kids could see it, or the Kelleys were producing it, it is none of our business to know all that sex stuff was found in their home. It isn't right, but it isn't illegal and shouldn't have been disclosed unless it's somehow linked to Ann's disappearance.

The main focus of all of this should be...WHERE IS ANN KELLEY? WHAT HAPPENED TO HER?
and most importantly...Are the children receiving counseling and lots of family support to help them thru this terrible time in their life? What could we do as a community to help ease the pain these children are going thru?

This whole thing is getting deeper and deeper. Why wasn't this stuff found when they searched the house the first time.

I'm surprised that the Daily Sun would print all of the details. If it didn't directly relate to any of the charges, why would you think printing the list of sexual items was more important than considering the feelings of the families involved? I am over 50 years old and I have a "nightie". It was a gift - gag gift. I have never worn it and don't intend to wear it. But if you come into my house and find it, what are you going to write about my moral character? Are the couple of extra dollars you have earned from the sale of a few extra papers worth the hurt you have caused this family's children? Wish you would have thought of them instead of the dollars!!!!
Whatever
Jun 5, 2008 8:05 AM
Who cares about what they found, he has obviously hurt a child here!! Whatever they have to do to keep him behind bars, DO IT!!!! The public isn't given details, and you complain!! Then you're given details, and you complain!!! Thank you to all of the efforts of the Gage Co Sheriff's Department and all other individuals who have helped!!! You are doing a wonderful job, and my family and I thank you!!!!!

To "me" and "concerned citizen" - Concerning the fact that others may also possess pornographic materials and that is not illegal: Others are not being charged with sexual abuse of a child either. This man is a felon and is charged with drug possession and sexual abuse. This is not an ordinary, law abiding citizen.

Kudos to the investigators. I really think there is a method to the madness of the search delays and saying no foul play was indicated. I found it frustrating at first, but now in light of this new development, there may have been reasons the public was unaware of. The best things out of this entire disaster is that those kids are now safe.
what about.........

What about that tip to the radio station about the Holmesville quarry.
Was that searched? He use to work at a farm in that area, he would know the turf.

I can't believe that they are charging this lagy with these things when they can't even find her, and did the daily sun not think about how this makes the family feel, and how disrespectful this is to Kelly.

DISRESPECTFUL TO KELLY???????You got to be kidding. The guy is has been charged with possession of drugs, possession of weapons as a felon, sexual abuse to a minor, unemployment fraud..........pLUS ALL THE porno stuff, He has not been charged with anything pertaining to Ann's disapearance. I wouldn't want to leave my children in his care.

I grew up with Ann and this is so hard for me to believe I knew Bill too, and never really liked him, I really think that he did something to her, it's funny how they were texting each other in the morning and then she disappears, then later that evening he finds her phone with a mysterious note. They need to find out which lakes he was talking about and search them for Gods sake. Those poor kids!!!!!!!!!!!!

The guy is being accused of sexually molesting a minor for over a year. I would say all those items they found pertaining to sex is very relevent.

I think Emily was referring to Ann when she said it was disrespectful to Kelley. She means it seems a bit strange to issue a warrant for her arrest right now. It doesn't seem to be something I would choose to do when the poor woman is missing!!

Ann is a very private person and wouldn't want all this in the paper for the whole town to read. Although it was all meant towards HIS character it comes back on Ann for those who don't know her. Some stuff really could of been left out. I'd rather know what the note said than know about her sex life. She never once in 20 years told me details of her sex life nor did I ask cuz it is not my business just like it is no one else's business as well. For those of you who don't actually know her please, please do her the favor of not judging her by what has been released. She is a good person with an old soul. She wouldn't hurt anybody. She was the first person I told of my biggest secret in my lifetime to and she did not judge me. Not even for a split second. And she never told a soul either. Can't ask for much more out of a friend if you ask me. I'm merely trying to return the gesture of friendship by asking you to please not judge her. Thank you.

It does amaze me that this very private information would need to be printed in the paper. I understand us as a community wanting and needing to hear more information on Anns disaperance, but this information about the private items found is not the info we desire. I have known Ann all my life and I feel embarassed for her. Our wonderful county attorney needs to give us more info on the actual case, not private details of someones bedroon. Only details pertaining to sexual abuse on a child should have been given when it comes to Bills situation. What a waste of my taxes that are paying these clowns to run this circus. Focus on finding Ann Mr County Attorney. Do the job you are being paid for. We will remember this come election time.
not most everyone

Are you really saying that MOST EVERYONE IN BEATRICE has pornographic tapes, DVDs, CDs, books and magazines , as well as sexual stimulation devices, sexually explicit clothing, sex board games and bondage materials?

Jun 8, 2008 6:53 PM
First of all, let me say that I do not believe that MOST people have pornographic material in their homes. It is pertinent in this case because of the sexual abuse of a minor for over a period of a year at his residence. Where was Ann when all this abuse was taking place? Was she aware of it? Was her family aware of it? It is hard to believe you could live in the same house and not know what was going on. It is also hard to comprehend that her family was unaware of it. Perhaps I'm just a nosy busy body but I think I would know if something inappropriate was going on with my family, i.e., my daughter's husband who is stepfather to two of my grandchildren.

I am wondering why Ann's family isn't actively doing more to find her? If it were my daughter, sister, niece, missing, I would be out hanging posters, hiring a private detective firm, etc., to try to locate her. Could it be that they already know her whereabouts?
Seriously

I can only assume that most of the people who comment on here are undeducated and watch way too much tv...there is a very good reason why you are not told everything about the case....its called an INVESTIGATION...if you knew anything about how law enforcement works you would know that you can not let all the information out that you have it will compromise the investigation....also alot of people seem to think that Randy should be doing more....I have complete confidence that Randy is doing all that he can. Our county has been cleaned up tremendously since Randy took office!! Stop complaining that you aren't getting all of the information you want, and complaining you are getting too much information......you are not auditioning for CSI:Gage County!

How dare you say that the family knows where she is. Their primary worry is those little children that don't have a mother or father right now. I can't believe that anyone would even say something like that. You don't know what you would do in their position until you're in it and I pray that you never are. My heart goes out to those children who did nothing and now have no parents to put them to bed and night and kiss them and say "I Love you." Don't try to start rumors when you don't even know what your talking about.

You hit the nail on the head. I have been wondering too why there have been no organized searches, candlite vigils, family members speaking out to the news.
UNLESS, threats to her life put her in hiding until the perp was arrested. Anywhere else someone goes missing, the press is all over it like white on rice. The families are in the spotlight. Not this one. Hardly any mention. The police search two bodies of water and call it good. There is more going on here and so Concerned, I am with you on this one.

I have e-mailed FOX news 3 times about why this case gets no coverage. If it was anywhere else they would cover it like no tomorrow, but here we get nothing. I want to see Geraldo here looking under those "unturned" stones he always talks about.

I do not think the family knows where she is though, thats not even on my top 20 list.

ANy bets on rather or not there is some recording devices in the jail cells?
Question
Jun 9, 2008 4:32 PM
A thought occurred to me - if Concerned is right and Ann did disappear on her own, will she and the people who aided and abetted her be responsible to pay back the money that the County has expended in her search? I am sure the search for her has cost we taxpayers thousands upon thousands of dollars.

I have emailed ABC and CNN and Nancy Grace. You would think with a missing wife, mother of 4, drugs and sex and a gun involved that they would be here scooping up the dirt. You are right, no one responds. What I see is law enforcement wanting Mr. K tucked away in a cell. That will work.

Again, people that watch too much TV. "DA" means District Attorney and Gage County does not have a "DA"!!!! They have a CA which means County Attorney. Most the people that post here cant wait until Thursday so they can watch a new epidose of CSI.

Whatever comments the people want to make are their right.....Given the little info that has been published, of course makes a persons mind wander, and coming up with their own scenario as to what happened to Mrs. Kelley. What she murdered, is she in hiding? or did she just plain up and leave?

We will know when there is information.

Meanwhile, please take the Kelley children into consideration and be careful what you post. This is such a devastaing time in their life right now. They need lots of love and support, not negative comments and garbage posted on the internet.

I hope their mother is safe.

To all of you calling for national coverage of this story, don't you think Ann's family, especially her children, have been through enough without having someone like Nancy Grace or Geraldo knocking on their doors? As for those of you who do not think that the family is doing enough publicly to find Ann, perhaps they do not feel it is necessary to display their personal grief and sorrow for the public's benefit. Please remember that they are doing the best they can to raise Ann's children. If you want to do something productive, perhaps bringing a meal to the family or a gift certificate for some groceries would be more fitting than speculating about whether every detail of the case has been made public.

Your views on National Coverage are diffrent than mine. I watch the news daily and see the outside covergae as a benefit. You need to understand that most of the time these shows like geraldo and Greta V and Nancy all bring renowned experts with them.

These people usually assist the local officials and see things the quite frankly our people do not see due to inexperience. And I am glad we don't have to experience this stuff like some other places do.

I grieve for the family, but closure is better than what they have now.

You have it wrong. I am not judging Ann or trying to hurt the family. On the contrary. I want to help the family know what happened. I don't care what Ann did or didn't do. Well adjusted, happily married, life is swell, women do not just get up one morning and disappear. For what ever reason she is missing is not normal. We need to help in anyway to find her. Right now, the only way I can help is to keep an interest going in the case.
