TECUMSEH - Tecumseh-Johnson County Central’s girls finished third overall in the Class C-2 District track and field meet Thursday in Tecumseh.
The Lady Thunderbirds finished with 84 1/2 points.
Lincoln Christian won the girls team title with 117 points, while Lincoln Lutheran was second with 93.
Humboldt Table Rock Steinauer finished fourth overall, while Adams Freeman was fifth and Southern was ninth.
Johnson County Central’s Kate Wellenseik won two individual event championships for the Lady Thunderbirds, the shot put and the pole vault.
HTRS’ Paige Schmid won the 300-meter hurdles.
Freeman’s Denae Wolken won the 1600-meter run.
Also qualifying for state from the Sunland were Schmid, HTRS, second, 100-meter hurdles and second, triple jump; Kali Schnacker, HTRS, second, 400-meter dash and second, long jump; Wolken, Freeman, second, 800-meter run; Lisa Niedermeyer, Johnson County, second, pole vault; Cortny Standerford, HTRS, second, shot put; and Kate Wellensiek, Johnson County, second, discus.
In the boys division, HTRS finished fifth overall, followed by Southern in sixth, Johnson County Central in seventh and Freeman in ninth.
Lincoln Christian won the boys team championship with Lincoln Lutheran second.
HTRS’ Kris Mayer claimed the only individual event championship for the Sunland, winning the pole vault.
Also qualifying for state was Aric Schnacker, HTRS, second, pole vault.
