Survivors: sons, Steve Bates and Donald Bates, both of Elk Creek; daughter, Barbara Schultz of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Jack Kavanagh of San Diego, Calif. Preceded in death by parents, John and Ethel (Callison) Kavanagh; husband, Keith; daughter, Maude Wheeler; brother, Charles; sister, Dorothy Allen.

Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, Wherry Mortuary, Third and Jackson streets, Tecumseh. Burial: Mount Hope Cemetery, Elk Creek. Visitation: 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday, with family greeting friends from 6 p.m.-8 p.m., and 8 a.m. Tuesday until time of service. Memorials to the family’s choice.
