Donna M. Hansen, 82 years of age, of Beatrice, died Friday afternoon, May 9, 2008, at the Beatrice Manor. She was born on January 25, 1926, at her parents’ rural Beatrice home and attended Bridges School, Holmesville High School and graduated from Beatrice High School in 1943.

After graduating, she taught country school for two years and had many fond memories of school, both as a student and a teacher. She then worked as a bookbinder for Milburn and Scott and Bates Printing. She was married to George A. Hansen on February 18, 1956, in Pawnee City, Nebraska. She was a charter member of MM (Merry Mothers) Club and a Gage County Extension club. She enjoyed embroidering, crafts, collecting plates, knick knacks, postcards and stamps, and reading, especially Cappers Weekly.

Survivors include her husband, George A. Hansen of Beatrice; one daughter, Peggy A. Wimer and husband Mark of Macon, Georgia; two grandchildren, Rhiannon and Rede Wimer; two nieces, Betty Stolzer of Beatrice and Judy Steffan of Lincoln; and one nephew, Kenneth Shultz of Upland, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Ewald Shultz; one brother, John Shultz; two sisters, Helen Shultz and Mary Duitsman; and one nephew, Lester Shultz.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at the Fox Funeral Home, 19th and Garfield streets, Beatrice, with Pastor C.L. Wimer officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice with the funeral home in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home on Monday, May 12, from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. A guest book for signatures and messages of condolence is available online at http://www.foxfuneralhome.net .
