Southeast Storm qualifies for NJCAA national tourney

Southeast Community College-Beatrice’s Storm golf team is headed to nationals after winning the National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX Division II championship in Scottsbluff recently.

The Storm finished first in the three-team regional field with a 934.

Central Community College-Columbus was second at 1000, while Miles (Mont.) Community College was third at 1021.

Derek Nicholson earned regional medalist honors with a 232, winning a playoff for first place over Central’s Derek Hull.

Southeast’s David Oldham was third with a 234, while Nate Koch was fourth at 236 and Brandon Schock was fifth at 237.

The NJCAA national tournament will be held in Goodyear, Ariz., May 20-23.
