Texas man killed in U.S. 77 accident in Marshall County

A Texas truck driver died in a fiery one-vehicle accident about 11 a.m. Thursday on U.S. Highway 77 about two miles south of the Kansas-Nebraska border, the Kansas Highway Patrol reported.

George J. Stagner, 67, of Crosby, Texas, died after the tractor-trailer truck he was driving southbound on U.S. Highway 77 went off the road into the west ditch, hit a driveway culvert and caught fire, according to the report. The fire completely consumed the truck.

There were no passengers in the vehicle and no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
