Gage County supervisors Wednesday approved using inheritance tax funds for replacement of the courthouse's elevator pending approval of the $2.8 million courthouse renovation bond issue in the May 13 election.

Supervisor David Anderson moved to take the funds from the fiscal year 2008-09 inheritance tax fund. Although elevator repairs were not part of the proposed bond issue, Anderson said doing something to repair the elevator would be a "good faith gesture."

No figures on the cost of elevator replacement were available.

Supervisor Harlan Hagemeier voted against the motion, saying he did not like making it pending the results of the bond issue election.
