KWBE Radio has been sold again.

Siebert Broadcasting Inc., based in Fairbury, has purchased KWBE Radio from NRG Media, effective March 31, Rick Siebert, Siebert Broadcasting president, said.

“KWBE is just a good radio station,” he said. “It’s been an acquisition we’ve been pursuing for a couple of years now.”

Siebert Broadcasting Inc. currently operates KUTT-FM and KGMT-AM.

In August, NRG Media, an Iowa-based media company, purchased KWBE Radio from Triad Broadcasting, along with KLIN-AM, KFGE-FM, KBBK-FM and KLNC-FM in Lincoln.

Siebert said NRG Media wanted to move in a different direction and was looking to sell KWBE. At the same time, Siebert Broadcasting knew KWBE would fit well into its overall plan and service to the community.

“It was a natural fit and we aggressively pursued it,” Siebert said.

The sale of KWBE Radio is expected to be approved by the Federal Communications Commission within the next 60 to 90 days.
