Nebraska wrestlers finish fourth in final NCAA tourney standings

ST. LOUIS - With Saturday’s conclusion of Session VI of the NCAA Championships, the Nebraska wrestling team wrapped up fourth place in the team race, finishing with five All-Americans and as the top Big 12 team.

NU’s finish is its highest since a fifth-place showing in 2004. The Huskers have finished in the top 10 in the nation 11 times.

Junior Paul Donahoe (125) and sophomore Jordan Burroughs (149) both claimed third-place finishes, while junior Brandon Browne (174) and sophomore Craig Brester (197) finished fourth.

Sophomore Stephen Dwyer earned eighth place as the Huskers crowned their most All-Americans since 1995.

Nebraska head coach Mark Manning has coached 22 Huskers to All-America status in his eight years at Nebraska.

Manning has led NU to four top-10 team finishes.

165 Pounds: Stephen Dwyer, eighth, consolation final, lost by decision to Jon Reader (Iowa State), 10-7.

174 Pounds: Brandon Browne, fourth, consolation final, lost by decision to Jay Borschel (Iowa), 6-4.

197 Pounds: Craig Brester, fourth, consolation final, lost by decision to Hudson Taylor (Maryland), 7-5 SV.
