Beatrice boys win Fairbury Invite

FAIRBURY - The Beatrice boys track team took top honors while the girls took third at the Fairbury Track Invite on Thursday.

Beatrice finished first on the boys side with 109.5 points. Crete was second with 105.

Aurora was third, York was fourth, Fairbury was fifth and Seward was sixth.

Finishing first for Beatrice were Ben Paben in the 1600 in 4:47.16 and the 3200 in 10:17.78, Cory Sugden in the high jump at 6-4 and Beatrice A 800 relay in 8:59.28.

Earning runner-up finishes for Beatrice were Matt Dunker in the 3200, Austin Niedfeldt in the triple jump and Beatrice A 400 relay.

Finishing first for Fairbury were Brian Dein in the long jump at 20-8 3/4, Devan Schmidt in the triple jump at 42-10 and the 400 relay in 3:35.31.

Runner-up finishers for Fairbury were Devan Schmidt in the 100, Brian Dein in the 400.

For the girls, Seward was first with 109 points and York was second with 106.5.

Beatrice was third, Fairbury was fourth, Crete was fifth and Aurora was sixth.

Finishing first for Beatrice were Gemma Pretzer in the 200 in 27.43 and the 400 in 1:01.85, Lindsay Fujan in the 300 hurdles in 50.22 and Kayla Busboom in the triple jump at 34-1.

Earning a runner-up finish for Beatrice was Devin Choate in the shot put.

Finishing first for Fairbury were KiLee Edson in the 100 in 12.84 and long jump at 16-11, and the 800 meter relay in 10:44.6.

Runner-up finishers for Fairbury were KiLee Edson in the 200, Kenzie Helmink in the 300 hurdles and 100 hurdles, Meggie Ehle in the long jump and Janessa Kobza in the discus.
