There will be primary election on May 13 for the Freeman school board as a result of candidate filings this week, according to the Gage County Clerk’s Office.

Anthony Meints of Cortland, a non-incumbent, filed for election to the Freeman school board this week. That pushed the number of candidates for the three available seats to seven, meaning there will be a May primary to trim the number of candidates to six for the general election in November.

In another area school board contest, Kelli Murphy, an incumbent, withdrew from the Southern school board race.
