A 49-year-old Seward woman was killed in a one-vehicle accident near Clatonia late Saturday morning.
Pamela J. Pierce was killed after being thrown from her 1999 white Dodge pickup truck in a one-vehicle accident on Apple Road three miles north of Clatonia and just east of Southwest 100th Road, according to the Gage County Sheriff's Office.
About 11:30 a.m. Pierce was traveling west on Apple Road when she left the roadway and entered the north ditch, deputies said.
She continued west in the ditch for approximately 200 feet before re-entering the roadway. She then lost control of her vehicle before going back into the north ditch and rolling several times. Pierce was thrown from the vehicle after it came to a rest on its top.
There were no other passengers in the vehicle.
Seatbelts were not in use and it is undetermined whether alcohol was a factor in the accident, deputies said. The accident remains under investigation.
Cortland Fire Department and Clatonia Rescue responded to the scene.
