NEBRASKA CITY - Beatrice's Exmark American Legion Seniors built an early lead on the road against Nebraska City Sunday en route to a 12-7 victory.
The local Seniors scored two runs in the first inning, two in the second and four in the third, taking an 8-3 lead after three innings.
“We hit the ball well again and our pitchers did a good job,” Beatrice coach Paul Valentine said.
Beatrice added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings and two runs in the seventh, while Nebraska City scored one run in the fourth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh.
On the mound, Dane Fossler and Jay Hartman combined for the win.
Fossler allowed one earned run on four hits in two innings of work, while Hartman gave up six runs, one earned, on four hits in four innings.
Offensively, Fossler led Beatrice with a home run, two singles and four RBI.
Brandon Diekman had a double and single and Matthew Lauritsen had two singles for Beatrice, while Hartman, Caleb Jackson, Micah Busboom, Brent Menke and Ryan Stevens added a single each.
