RentalsPLATTSMOUTH - Firth Norris' Titans and Lady Titans both finished as runners-up at the Eastern Midlands Conference track and field meet at Plattsmouth Thursday.
The Titans produced conference champions in four individual events, while the Lady Titans claimed two championships.
Champion Plattsmouth outpaced runners-up Norris in team scoring, 185-100 in the boys division.
Titan coach John Votta said Norris didn't have their usual “strong showing” in the field events, but scored in every track event.
Titan Adam Baxa did win the long jump, recording his best leap of 20-10, which tied him for fifth on the Titan honor roll in that event, said Votta.
Tim Donner sprinted to a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash in 51.6.
Jon Damkroger brought home the gold in the 200-meter dash in 22.7, just short of the Titan school record time of 22.6.
In the 300-meter hurdles, Cameron Dudley took the gold in 40.8, fourth-best in school history.
The Elkhorn Lady Antlers won the EMC meet, outpacing Norris' Lady Titans, 127 3/4-99.
Lady Titan coach Nancy Etmund said even the inclement weather didn't stop the Lady Titans from competing well at the conference meet.
Lady Titans Abby Kroese and Stevie Grossenbacher took conference champion honors in the hurdle events.
Kroese won the gold medal in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.2, while Grossenbacher finished first in the 300-meter hurdles in 48.5.
District action starts for Norris on Thursday at Concordia University in Seward.
