Lady Jeffs win Crete championship

CRETE - KiLee Edson led Fairbury's Lady Jeffs with two gold medals as the team won championship honors at the Crete Invitational Friday night.

Overall, the Lady Jeffs took home five gold medals and won the seven-team meet with 127 points.

Edson sprinted to a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 27.1 and earned her second gold in the long jump with a jump of 16-5.

The Lady Jeffs had a first-place performance in the 400-meter relay, finishing the event in 51.4.

In the triple jump, Kylie Helmink earned a gold with a jump of 33-9 1/4.

Lady Jeff RaeChael Zabokrtsky took first place in the discus with a throw of 117-2.

Firth Norris' Lady Titans finished fourth in the final team standings, while Beatrice was fifth.

Lady Titan Stevie Grossenbacher earned a gold medal in the 300-meter hurdles in 48.1.

Sonny Adkins took Norris' second gold medal in the high jump with a leap of 5-2.

In the boys division, Beatrice's Ben Paben led the Orangemen with two gold medals, helping his team to a second-place finish.

Beatrice finished as runners-up to Crete in the boys team scoring, 120-117.

Paben took gold medals in both the 1600-meter run and 3200-meter run in 4:41.1 and 10:12.6, respectively.

Anthony Mittan finished in first place in the triple jump for the Orangemen with a jump of 40-7 3/4.

Beatrice's Derek Linck earned a gold medal in the shot put with a put of 50-4.

Norris placed third in the boys team standings, while Fairbury was fifth.

Norris' Jon Damkroger took the gold medal in the 200-meter dash in 22.6.

The Titans 3200-meter relay team had a first-place finish in 8:45.6.

Fairbury's Clayton Brandt picked up a gold medal in the pole vault clearing 11-1.

Jeff Brian Dein won the long jump with a distance of 20-6.

In the discus, Clay Ehler took the gold for Fairbury with a throw of 153-7.

yeah, i have a cleft palate to and i play football..i play DE,SS,WR,TE around their, my football hero right now is owen schmitt, he also has a cleft palate and is beastin it up at west virigina. he just got drafted by the seahwaks to if anyone is intrested.
