NEBRASKA CITY - Beatrice's Lady Orange dominated the tennis court Thursday in their 8-1 dual victory over the Nebraska City Lady Pioneers.
“Beatrice brought out the big sticks,” according to Beatrice coach Phil Cook.
In all, 10 Lady O players saw varsity action, according to Cook.
Winning singles matches for Beatrice were Jamie Gay, Evelien Keizers, Amber Engler, Daleigh Fossler and Betsy Havekost.
Cook said the only “slip-up” was at No. 6 singles when Heidi Daubendiek lost in a tiebreaker.
Cook said it was Daubendiek's first varsity singles action this year.
“She (Daubendiek) stepped in for Natasha Trauernicht, who sprained an ankle in warm-ups,” Cook said.
Cook said all three of the Lady Orange doubles teams “showed no love” in their wins over the Lady Pioneers.
Picking up doubles victories were Fossler and Engler, Sandi Pollard and Mallory Johnsen and Daubendiek and Courtney Spilker.
Cook said freshman Spilker won her first varsity match playing doubles.
